On Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, WMUR TV-9's Chronicle featured Prospect Mountain High School History students and teacher Mike Folan.
The video can be seen HERE.
Mr. Folan's students participated in a trip to Normandy, France to see the site of the D Day invasion and to find the grave markers of some of New Hampshire's fallen heroes who gave their lives during the Normandy invasion.
Since their return, in partnership with the Wright Museum of World War II in Wolfeboro, Folan's students have immersed themselves in research about ten of those New Hampshire soldiers who died during the Normandy Campaign. Students have researched the hometowns, family connections, schools and vocations of the soldiers and airmen. They will present their research at the Wright Museum this June 6th at 5:30 p.m. on the 80th anniversary of D Day.
This project represents the best of Prospect Mountain High School -- taking learning from the classroom into the community, where students get to make connections between their studies and their communities. Mike Folan will be celebrating his retirement from a long teaching career at the end of this school year, but his impact will continue in the lives of students for many lifetimes.
