Happy New Year!

We hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and had a restful break from school.  One of the things we are always working on improving is our school safety procedures and protocols.  We are writing to you to let you know, that in conjunction with the Alton Police Department, at today’s staff meeting we will be discussing our lockdown and violent act response procedures.  These scenarios include an armed intruder in the building, an active shooter, and/or an individual brandishing some other type of weapon intending to do harm.

In the coming days and weeks, teachers will be having conversations with students about these scenarios in addition to PMHS running official drills in concert with the Alton police Department.  We want to inform you of this so you are prepared to talk to your child about it.  We recognize that these are difficult conversations to have and that they can be stress/anxiety provoking.  However, these conversations and trainings are vitally important to us developing the safest school environment possible.

We are currently developing guidelines  that will be shared with parents in the near future, that will serve as a protocol for your response as parents in the event of a violent act emergency at PMHS.  More to come on that.

Please reach out to Assistant Principal DelBarone at ddelbarone@pmhschool.com with any questions you may have.
