To the PMHS Juniors & Their Families,
Annually, New Hampshire school districts and public charter schools are required by state law (RSA 193-C) and federal accountability laws (Every Student Succeeds Act) to assess students using a standardized assessment. At the high school level, two assessments are used to assess students:
SAT School Day with Essay, which assesses students in the areas of ELA and Math, will be administered on April 15th from 8:00 - 12:00
NH SAS, which assesses students in Science, will be administered in May, exact date TBD
For additional information on statewide accountability assessments, please visit the Department of Education Office of Assessment website.
What students and families need to know about the SAT School Day with Essay:
All juniors will be required to take the SAT School Day on Tuesday, April 15th from 8:00-12:00. Students who are absent on the 15th will be scheduled for make-ups the following day, or a time TBD. The SAT is 100% digital. Juniors will take the test using the digital testing platform, Bluebook, on their school issued chromebooks. Personal devices can NOT be used for testing.
Preparing for the Test:
Review the SAT School Day Student Guide for important information on how to prepare and what to expect on test day.
Beginning in March, English and Math teachers will be doing SAT prep with students in their English classes once a week. This will be conducted through various resources including Bluebook, which is the digital testing platform students will be using to take the SAT on test day.
Additional SAT prep can be found on Khan Academy or through Tutor.com which students can access by clicking on the waffle icon in their google account and scrolling down to the bottom. Tutor.com will connect you with a live tutor 24/7.
Test Day Information:
Bring fully-charged chromebooks and chargers to school on test day.
Students will report to assigned testing rooms no later than 8:00. Students can be admitted to their testing room as long as the exam hasn’t started. Any students who arrive after the exam has begun will be asked to go to class, and they will receive information regarding make-ups.
Students who take the SAT on April 15th will be able to leave after testing is complete.
Snacks will be provided during the break. Lunch will be available after testing. No food or drink will be allowed during testing.
If you are a junior who attends LRTC, you will be excused from your program on test day.
Phones, smart watches, cameras, personal electronics, and devices that can record or send information are NOT allowed. Any student who is found accessing one of these devices at any point during the testing administration will be removed from testing and their scores will be canceled.
We will continue to update students and families with information as we get closer to test day. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns regarding the information above, please contact me at 875-3800, ext 2164 or by email at ksauer@pmhschool.com.
